Jealous of Andy - where next with tournaments

So Andy went to Botch last weekend and I'm still waiting for the reports on day 2 however I am really jealous.

I had a ride up to see him on Saturday and to get a pack of Grey Knights which I have painted one and it looked to be a really great event.

Martin a fellow first company vet had already said it was the best event he went to last year so next year it is certainly on the tournament calender for me.

Next up for me and Grazer is Tim's summer skirmish in August but after that the tournament scene around the midlands (when I say that I mean at Maelstrom) seems to dry up, I wish I'd got a ticket for Throne of Skulls but I couldn't have afforded it this month and they sold out too quickly. Next year we will see another Caledonian open early in the year which was a great event followed by the UK GT.

One tournament I am looking forward to next year is The Jolly Toy's outing in February run by the oxford gaming club. This is going to be a Nova style event.

So that's my tournament plans for the next 8 months as well as trying to win the club championship which I am still top of having played more games than anyone else with 3 wins and a loss and I'm playing Andy in my last game this week.

  1. Glad to hear Martin enjoyed it and hopefully Andy enjoyed day 2 a bit more than it seems day 1. As the organiser I am really sorry to hear when people don't enjoy themselves so Andy, any suggestions on what could have been done to improve your 1st day please drop me an email mate.

As for other tournaments, ok it's not in the midlands but I strongly recommend either Ribble Rumble in Preston on the august bank holiday: http://warhammer.org.uk/phpBB/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=86144 or Northern Warlords GT in Warrington 2nd weekend in September: http://warhammer.org.uk/phpBB/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=87706

Both are excellent events, I am sure Martin will big up the Northern Warlords one as well, and have a lot of the same people from BotC in attendance.

  2. I've got Summer Skirmish, End Times and then the GW 40k doubles at WHW.

Not to mention at little matter of Blog Wars 2 in December. More on that in a post from me tonight hopefully.

  3. Hi Neil. No criticism of the event intended, it was excellent, well run, kept to time, the BBQ on Saturday was a great idea, and tasty! All my opponents were great guys and I really liked having 4 smaller games on the Saturday with 2 larger games on the Sunday, Sunday felt more relaxed which is what I want out of a Sunday. I hope the team you're handing over to keep up the good work.

I just suffered a bit because I played badly and I think the escallation format really threw me off (again, not intended to be a criticism of the format, just accepting my noobness in list building). I did learn alot though and i'd be up for it again next year, I'd certainly recommend it to anyone just if you've not played the format before get some test games in for your lists :)
