(Yep, band names today. The only song I could think of with Small in the title is Small by The Animalhouse but you can't have a post just called "Small")
Karnstein make some excellent comments in this post which made me realise that I had to start smaller with the Dark Eldar until I understand them a bit more. So, I've come up with this 500 point list and I've tried where possible to heed his advice:
Succubus, Blast Pistol, Agoniser
9 Wyches, Shardnet & Impaler, Hekatrix
Raider, Advanced Aethersails, Shadowfield
10 Wyches, 2 Hydra Gauntlets, Hekatrix, Agoniser
Raider, Advanced Aethersails
So, Agonisers in both squads now and a Shardnet in the squad with the Succubus to prevent as many nasty attacks (Power Weapons/Fists) coming back at them. 2 Hydra Gauntlets in the other squad to maximise volume of attacks. I also went with the Shadowfield on one Raider as I couldn't find anything better to get for 10 points, although I did think about Haywire Grenades on the Succubus and a Venom Blade on the naked Hekatrix.
Now, I know what you're all thinking - "Hey, Claws and Fists, we come here for our daily fill of Space Wolf goodness! What's with all this Dark Eldar nonsense? How about telling us what you'd play at 500 points if you were making a Space Wolf army..." Okay fictional reader, your wish is my command.
Rune Priest, Living Lightning, Murderous Hurricane
5 Grey Hunters, Razorback, Twin-Linked Assault Cannon
5 Grey Hunters, Razorback, Twin-Linked Assault Cannon
4 Long Fangs, 3 Rocket Launchers
So, the Priest can either go in one of the Razorbacks or sit at the back with the Long Fangs killing stuff. I was slightly tempted to give him Stormcaller so that if he's in the Razorbacks he can give them a 5+ save but I just love Murderous Hurricane too much.
I thought you needed a fire point to be able to realize the effects of the powers, including non-shooting powers like MH.
ReplyDeleteGoing to get the new dex tonight!
ReplyDeleteCorrection, I meant Stormcaller. I don't think it works in a razorback.
ReplyDeleteHi Chris, you're right that you can't use Murderous Hurricane or Living Lightning from the Razorback as it has no fire points. However, Stormcaller isn't a psychic shooting attack and since it specifically states it effects units within 6", the Rune Priest's Razorback would benefit. Obviously the key is making sure the second Razorback in within 6" of the first so that they both get it.
